NJ Redevelopment Forum

Earlier this spring, Civic Eye was invited to speak at the 2011 NJ Future Redevelopment Forum in New Brunswick, NJ. This annual event is a day-long conference that brings together state and local leaders and planning professionals to share knowledge about creating innovative, community-minded redevelopment projects. Ranjit was pleased to join Ian Sacs, Hoboken Director of Transportation and Parking, in discussing our film on community transportation and livability in Hoboken. In fact, the Forum was this film’s premeire! It has since been used to “set the stage” for community meetings in Hoboken, and will be shown on the City’s local access television channel.
Ranjit and Ian were joined by professor Tony Nelessen of Rutgers University, who led the participants through a Visual Preference Survey he designed that can be used to measure community acceptance of multi-modal transportation choice as tool for downtown revitalization. We’re excited by the potential of this community involvement and visioning tool, and are exploring it’s use in our own practice.
Professor Nelessen tabulated the (non-scientific) results of the Forum survey into this video, which also provides a primer on the Visual Preference Survey technique.
